The Worst of the Next Generation

 

We have all played some bad games and no matter how much we want them to bad games will never go away from ET for the Atari to Jaws to the NES they will always be there to make us throw our controller out the window.  I'm sure everyone remembers classics like Shaq Fu for the Sega Genesis and Bebe's Kids for the SNES but lets not forget gems like Superman 64 or  Independence Day for the PS1.  They all keep getting worse but it never stops because after making gamers play abominations like  Final Fight: Streetwise for the PS2, Aquaman for the Gamecube, and of course Pulse Racer for the Xbox.  So here we are we have systems like Xbox 360, Playstaion 3, Wii, and the 3DS so they can have games thats bad right, well here they are some of the worst the Next Generation has to offer.

 

 Need for Speed: the Run -  Well if we are going to start this list off right then lets get to a game that went far away from what the series is supposed to be.  For fans for games like Most Wanted, Carbon, or Hot Pursuit we get this a 8 hour story at most that is a basic liner racer and almost make you feel like you should be playing ridge racer.  The big part of this game they wanted to get people excited for is that you get out of the car.  Well this isn't like GTA you get out during interactive cut scenes that make you feel like your playing Heavy Rain.  There is one part where the car goes over a ledge and as soon as I make a joke about wow looks like Ethan Mars going off the road in Heavy Rain they take me to a quick time event were the car is upside down and I have to escape.  Um, does this sound familiar to anyone?  Basically this game was a failure and please EA don't mess up the new Most Wanted and never ever make a sequel to this waste of a game.

 Twisted Metal - Now here is a game that did not live up to the hype.  I loved this game on the PS1 and PS2 so when they announced it was coming to the PS3 I was excited and when I finally played it I was disappointed.  What happen where did it go wrong, well everywhere from the story to online.  The story is just plan awful and seems rushed but hey who plays Twisted Metal for a story right.  The gameplay has to be good and controls being PS3 should be great but no both suck the cars are awful to control and the gameplay sucks, they can kill you in seconds but it takes forever to destroy the other cars.  The online is a broken mess and they even pushed back the release date to make it better well maybe they should of pushed it back further.  This game had the potential the be the best game on the PS3 but it failed.  When even the cut scenes look like something fan made on YouTube we have a problem.

Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir  - This game here is game that should of made all fans of horror games happy.  It's a 3DS game so the scare factor should of been taken to another level, it's in 3D. You have to take pictures and things pop up out of know where as you walk around and turn around like your actually in a Fatal Frame world because guess what this is a Fatal Frame game.  What is that the title doesn't say Fatal Frame well as soon as you start the game you see this.

Does this look familiar because it should so why hide the truth that this is a Fatal Frame game, well that is simple.  It Sucks, this game is not scary in any way no matter how many times ghost pop up out of nowhere.  Do you like playing horror games in the dark?  I know I do but forget about it with this because you need light and lots of it because of a book that comes with it you need to interact with and with out light the 3DS can't see anything.  The story will make you want to turn it off and go to sleep it is that boring and fighting ghost well after turning in circles to find then you might be a little dizzy.  So yes I understand them not putting Fatal Frame on the cover of the case.  I'd hide my name in shame to if I made this crap.

     

Call of Juarez: the Cartel - Well now here is the definition of a terrible game the problem where do I begin.  Let's see there is the story, controls, graphics, gameplay, online, and well everything.  If you want to play what might be the worst first person shooter ever then here you go.  The graphics look like something from the 3DO.  The story is more retarded then anything you might see in your lifetime and the controls are some of the worst controls I've ever had the displeasure of playing a game with in my life.  Gameplay is choppy and seems to always lag to a point where it's almost unplayable. The online feature of co-op is a waste since you either can't ever get into a game or it will drop you out. Along with the lag and freezing there's no reason to play this online.  There really isn't a reason to play this at all.  Even if you see this in a bargain bin somewhere stay away, far far away. For a game that was suppose to take this franchise to a new level by being in the modern era this I feel killed this franchise.  If you want to play a Call of Juarez game go play Bound in Blood,  sure it sucks too but not as bad as this. 

Brink - So does anybody even like this game?  I know that I could be here all day listing everything wrong with this game.  For a company like Bethesda to release this game made me shake my head wondering why.  Then you also notice that the makers of Doom and Quake worked on it make you almost lose faith in gaming.  The controls and story were ok, so that's a good thing but gameplay, graphics, and online are awful. Gameplay is a shame because that may of saved this game but it was sluggish.  Either you take for ever to spawn, the shooting is off or it's everything else. The freezing in a game that is made to play online is not a good thing considering how bad the online is. The online is the worst. The main reason is as soon as you join a game it might be over.  There where several times I joined at the end of a game.  The Graphics look like a watered down  version of Borderlands.  But even if you look past the Graphics the gameplay is what really kills this game.  No matter if you play offline the gameplay seems to get worse, with your AI partners not moving or even trying to help or the lag and freezing this game is a broken mess and Bethesda should be ashamed.

Dead Space: Ignition - If you never heard of this game consider yourself blessed.  This game is something that either never should of been made or not made into something related to Dead Space.  This is a puzzle game with comic book pictures.  No shooting alien zombie monsters, no cut scenes, there really isn't anything in this that is in the other two Dead space games.  So besides that whats bad about it?  The puzzles!  don't get me wrong I like puzzle games that are fun and are a challenge, but this is boring and makes no sense.  Why am I worried about computer viruses when there are alien's eating people?  Damn it grab a plasma cutter and get to shooting!!!!  The Story, well there basically isn't one. Sure they make it seem like one with you fixing a computer only to find out it is sabotaged and then you find out that the Necromorphs are killing people so you must escape while doing more puzzles on more computers.  See it makes no sense.  All this is supposed to lead up to Dead Space 2, I say forget this and just give me Dead Space 2.  Here you choose which one you want to play more.

Party Games in Motion -  This is the game that shows everything wrong with the Kinect.  I know the Kinect has some good games like Kinect Sports, Dance Central, and Rise of Nightmares but this game will make anyone run far away from a Kinect.  What is the main problem?  It's the gameplay and controls.  This game does not ever understand what motions you are doing.  You can stand there all day doing what you should but guess what this game doesn't care. Soccer, table hockey, basketball, skee ball these game are fun to play in real life but on Kinect it will make you hate them, smash this game disc, grab the Kinect sensor and throw it out the window.  Go ahead and make a throwing motion it won't read that you did. You can't aim at all, you basically can't do anything you should.  This game gives Kinect a bad name. 

So there you go some of the worst games to come out lately and I'm sure there are more to come or some I just have not played. Oh and no I will not play the new Steel Battalion if the demo was that awful then the game might just be the new Game Party in Motion.  

Top Ten Games I Enjoys the First Half of 2012

So the year is half way gone but a lot of good games have came out to keep us gamers busy.  I thought it would be a good idea to list for you the ten games I enjoyed the most that have come out so far this year.

10. Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.  - I don't play Lego games often, this actually is the only Lego game I have played and I was surprised at how fun it was to play the Co-Op feature. The true Gem of this game along with the funny aspect of the storyline and the huge cast of DC characters.  If you want a game with a lot of replay value this is one of those games.

 9.  Bird Mania 3D for the 3DS - How much more fun can you ask for $5. A fun little game with a simple objective get a far as you can in the game while avoiding trees and bushes, hitting other birds and balloons, dodge bees and score points a lot of points.  With a leader board it can be fun for friends and family, just pass the 3DS around and see who can stay on top. This game truly could be one of  the best games to come out for the 3DS.

8. Fable Heroes -  I'll be honest when I first heard of this game and saw this title picture I thought "oh no what did they do to Fable now".  So I went into this thinking the worst but wow was I wrong.  If you enjoy games like Little Big Planet then you will love Fable Heroes, with both online and offline 4 player co-op, two versions of every level, multiple paths to explore, mini games, and boss fights this is a extremely fun game.  It doesn't matter if you love Fable or never played a Fable game before this $10 game will give you a lot of  fun for a long time, download it now and enjoy.

7. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City - Ok someone tell me why a lot of people did not like this game.  Sure it is not the best Resident Evil game out there and like some people say it does not even play like one but that is what this game was supposed to be something different. I really enjoyed this for several reasons, first there are zombies and I love zombies.  Then there is the different endings you can go after the achievements for, but that is not the main driving force of this game it is the 4 player online co-op and the online vs. modes that make this game fun. If you go into this game looking for something like Resident Evil 3 then yes you will be disappointed but this is not like any Resident Evil you ever played and it's still better then Resident Evil 4 and 5.

 

 6. UFC Undisputed 3 - Come on what not to love about knocking some one out with a kick to the head.  If you like MMA then your gonna love this game and without question the best UFC game to come out ever.  The reason I enjoyed this so much I thought UFC 2009 and UFC 10 were awful, but with this version they improved everything. Controls are so much better and takedowns transitions and submissions are a lot more fluent to pull off.  The career mode is more fun with you starting in the lower leagues of MMA and working your way to the UFC and Pride, also being able to change divisions after dominating one is a great idea. It's a real shame that THQ will no longer be doing the UFC games since this was there best effort on the franchise to date but lets hope EA can take what was a great game this year and make it even better.

 


 5. Dragon Dogma - Oh Capcom I really try to hate you but then you put out a awesome game like this.  This game has everything and I mean everything.  Dragons, ghost, zombies, trolls, witches, Spinx, you name it this game has it and more. The create your character takes it to another level cause not only do you do that but you create your pawn too.  Your pawn is your companion in the game who helps out depending on how you create him or her. But don't think it's only you two, you can recruit your friends and other online players pawn in the rift.  With the huge story and all the side quest this game has; you will be playing this for ever. This game is a RPG fan must have.  The controls are easy and quick to learn, there really isn't anything bad I can think to say about this game.  I love it.

4. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Now here is a RPG that is everything RPG fans love.  Take Fable and Syrim add Warcraft art style and you have Reckoning.  This game is unbelievably fun in so many ways, from the create a character feature to the weapons, fight style, story, and more.  Also as any RPG fan loves it isn't a short game with a huge storyline and a long list of side quest there is a lot to do.  The characters are done amazingly and the environment is beautifully done in a way that you will want to explore everywhere. The quests are like Skyrim soon as you think you got them all done tons more appear and if you like lock picking it's here and a lot easier too.  The weapons are wonderful with plenty to choose from and the fight style will seem familiar to Fable fans.  Also did I mention fast travel cause I love fast travel.  This game is a must buy.

3. The Walking Dead - I love The Walking Dead(can't wait for season 3) so I had to play this.  Know I know people see this and go "TellTale Games huh" but they did a great job with this and I was impressed by everything about it.  This is a episode game, what that means is they release it it different parts monthly or every couple months kinda like a TV show. So after two parts I can't wait for more.  Some people might not like the art style or game play but that's what I do like about it. The art style of the game is based on the comic book style and that is also the world this game takes place in so don't go into this thinking it's going to be based on the TV show.  The art in this game though is amazing and draws you in along with the story.  The game play is a point and click type game play a lot different from what most people play and I welcome that, it's good to play something different that has a huge focus on the story and how you play through it because every choice you make will change the game.  What ever it is you do will decide how the episode you play continues and every episode you play after.  Who will you kill, who will you save, tell the truth or lie.  It basically makes you think about your every choice.  A game that makes you think now that's different.

2. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition - I have heard so much about Minecraft but never played it on PC. Then I hear it is coming to Xbox so I was like ok I might try this out then.  WOW I'm glad I did, this game can be defined with one word FUN.  The fact that you create you own world is just awesome, sure the graphics are not the best thing but who cares.  I know so many people who love this game, it is addicting.  You will play for hours and not even know that's how fun it is. This game can truly be the best thing to come to Xbox Arcade and after selling 2 million copies in one day I'm sure it is. Build you own world, house, mine for gold and diamonds, set stuff on fire, make friends with wolves, fight zombies, milk cows, make cake in this game you do it all.

1. Lollipop Chainsaw - Come on what's not to love about a young 18 year old cheerleader with a chainsaw killing zombies.  This game is what having fun is all about.  Sure it is short but who care it has replay value like no other game does. There are ranking modes to play and outfits to unlock. I was so happy when I unlocked the High School of the Dead outfits. Most of the game she was dressed as Saeko Busujima.
The story is short but sweet, and  was fun to play, Don't want to spoil anything for those who have not played but trust me it is a lot of fun and there are good times to be had. Controls are great, art style is wonderful, story is pure fun, and boss fights are great. What more is there to say you are a cheerleader killing zombies with a chainsaw. YES!!!!



So there you go these are the best games I've played so far this year so whats next for the remaining 2012 game line up.  Oh yea Assassin's Creed 3 and Halo 4.  I can't wait.

Strange things in Skyrim

So Skyrim players know a lot of odd, weird, and just plain strange things happen in this game but some things just make you go "Dude what the?", well today was that day for me.  So I decided to go achievement hunting today and one that I finally decided to go after was the married achievement and just like in real life you got to do a lot to get married.  So first you have to go to Riften and well it's been awhile since i went there and i forgot where it was, so after a good amount of time looking at the map and looking on YouTube there it was at the very bottom corner of the map wow i felt dumb but it made for a good laugh so on to the next thing on what to do to get married in this game. I get to Riften and have to go to the Temple of Mara and talk to a guy about getting married, No it isn't how it sounds lol.  He is the priest and has to tell you about getting married and sell you a Amulet of Mara.  Now I have to wear this and walk around talking to women, by the way did I mention my character is a Argonian (lizard). So here I am and i finally after a good while find the one and asked so it's back to Riften and to the Temple to get married.  Now I'm a married lizard and have to find a place for me and my human wife ( those will be some ugly kids ) to live, lucky me I have a house in Whiterun.  So I fast travel there and wait for her and it takes her a day to get there, i fast forwarded time till she came in the house. I talked to here and cool she gonna start a business in the house that's nice more gold for me and then things got odd. As she sits down at a table this guy named Faendal come into my home sits next to her and just stares at her. At this point I'm like, what the hell?  So I walk to him to talk and he says "I wish Camilla (that's my wife's name) shared my affection that I have for her."  What the hell man you walk into my house and sit next to my wife and tell me that.  As i ponder what to do he stands up and vanished.  I've had a lot off crazy things happen in this game but this was just strange and uncomfortable, I just got married and people are already hitting on my wife.
